Beyond the Anchor Desk: The Rise of Citizen Journalism

citizenj300Forget “film at 11:00.” News footage is 24/7 from the plasma screen to the Internet, contributed by a legion of engaged citizen journalists with tools ranging from video cameras to cell phones. The Norman Lear Center’s Marty Kaplan moderated a discussion on this revolution in news gathering and distribution, with ireporters joining a distinguished panel. The focus of the discussion was on how citizen journalists using new media as well as traditional broadcast outlets, are changing the way we receive news and how that change is impacting national and global issues including this year’s election.
