Social Media Internship

Hollywood, Health & Society (HH&S), a program of the Norman Lear Center, provides industry professionals with accurate and timely information for health and safety storylines. We are currently seeking interns with an interest in public health and entertainment education to work with our Transmedia Specialist to conduct social media tracking and outreach on various health- and safety-related campaigns. Experience with Twitter, Facebook and Instagram a must. Other administrative duties may also apply. This is an unpaid internship but current students can receive academic credit. Awards Assistant

The Walter Cronkite Awards for Excellence in TV Political Journalism encourages and showcases innovative television news coverage, and awards both local and national television news broadcasting for each election cycle. Previous winners have included Katie Couric, George Stephanopoulos, Jake Tapper, Brian Stelter and Katy Tur. The award is administered by the USC Annenberg Norman Lear Center. We are looking for someone to be involved in the process of organizing a national award, from helping with outreach/publicity to broadcast news outlets, to organizing entries, to watching political TV coverage and working with the Project Manager to facilitate the judging, insuring the highest level of integrity and transparency throughout the process.

Qualifications:

  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Can commit at least 5 hours/week during the fall and early spring semesters
  • An interest in broadcast news and/or politics is a definite plus
