It’s a Maze: Earth/Water/Fire/Air

Submitted by Steven Contreras

Looking back at Olvera Street, the easternmost point is the entrance to four separate mazes which respectively proceed to the south, southwest, west and northwest.

Unlike other mazes in which strollers can get stranded, however, the "walls" are marked only by grass paths. The four exits point to the elements of L.A.’s success and beauty: earth (beaches), air (LAX), water (L.A. Harbor) and fire (Hollywood). Each path has a timeline embedded in it that addresses the element. Each exit has a unique themed water feature that pays tribute to the element.
